From Bare Dirt to Green Grass: The Sod Project Is Complete

This Monday, June 15, was a big day along the Corridor. Board members and volunteers turned out to roll out fresh sod at the Round Window Garden, replacing bare, worn-down dirt with a healthy green lawn — all in a single day of hands-on work.

An Early Start

Board President Franco Campanello shared a look at the crew already at work mid-morning, rolling out sod by hand across the garden.

All Hands on Deck

By midday, the crew was making steady progress, fitting sod rolls into place piece by piece along the garden's sidewalk edge.

Complete, and Protected

By 6 PM, the transformation was done. "The Sod Project is complete," board member Jenny Keenan announced — and the photos said the rest: bare dirt had become a lush green lawn.

With the sod down, the next job was making sure it gets the chance to take root undisturbed. Volunteers finished the day by setting protective string fencing along the new lawn.
