The Corridor

What we call “The Corridor” is Section 1 of the Southwest Corridor Park—the South End/Back Bay section running between Harcourt and Camden Streets.

The Southwest Corridor Park stretches 4 miles from Back Bay to Forest Hills. The Conservancy, in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, stewards this first section: 31 gardens and green spaces that connect our neighborhoods.

Our History

From Concrete to Community

Discover how Boston stopped a highway and created one of America's most remarkable urban parks.

In the 1960s, this land was slated for a 12-lane expressway. Through community activism and visionary leadership, it became a 4.1-mile greenway connecting neighborhoods instead of dividing them.

Tucked away among charming brick buildings, this neighborhood playground offers a safe and engaging space for children of all ages. The centerpiece is a large, multi-level climbing structure equipped with slides and lookout points. For the little ones, the area is generously stocked with a variety of ride-on toys and walkers. With its soft safety flooring and shaded perimeter, it’s the perfect spot for families to gather and play in the heart of the community.
