On Saturday, October 3, volunteers gave their time to care for neighborhood green spaces. The Claremont Neighborhood Association (CNA) shared that 11 Northeastern University students joined its community service day, helping at Wellington Common’s Rose Garden and the Southwest Corridor Park near the Mass Ave T station.

Their efforts benefited both CNA and the Southwest Corridor Park Conservancy, helping maintain places our neighbors share every day.

Hands-on Care

According to CNA, the students divided into two groups, with Nonnie and Bob from CNA each leading part of the team. At the Rose Garden, their work included pruning, sweeping, general garden cleanup, and sanding the railings around the Rose Garden sign. The group along the Southwest Corridor Park helped with cleanup and maintenance.

Photos from the day also show volunteers painting park railings along the Corridor. From cleanup tools to paintbrushes, the work brought hands-on care and community spirit to these neighborhood green spaces.

Thank you to all 11 Northeastern students, CNA, and everyone who helped care for the neighborhood. Partnerships among students, residents, and neighborhood organizations make a difference in the places we all share.
